The Truth About Steve Toth
New Review Shows Steve Toth Passed Just 1% of His Legislation While Dan Crenshaw Delivered Billions for Texan
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DATE: January 23, 2026
[TX-2] — As primary election day approaches, voters in Congressional District 2 are taking a closer look at Steve Toth’s legislative record, or more accurately, the lack of one. A review of public records shows that over the past four years, Toth has filed more than 150 bills in the Texas Legislature, yet only two have become law. Even more telling, during the most recent two-year legislative cycle, not a single bill authored by Toth became law.
By comparison, members of the Texas Legislature routinely see 15–30 percent of the legislation they file become law in a given session. Steve Toth’s passage rate over the last two legislative sessions stands at just 1 percent, placing him among the least effective lawmakers in the Texas Legislature.
Lawmaking is not about social media posts or bill filing counts, it is about building consensus, navigating the legislative process, and delivering results. If Steve Toth has repeatedly failed to move legislation through the Texas House, voters are left to ask a serious question: how can he possibly be an effective congressman if he has demonstrated no ability to pass laws where he currently serves? Congress demands skill, discipline, and effectiveness. Toth’s record suggests he lacks all three.
Fortunately, Congressional District 2 already has a stalwart conservative fighter in Congressman Dan Crenshaw. During Crenshaw’s time as a congressman, he has overseen major victories for his constituents. In 2024 and 2025 a few of these victories included:
- Leading the effort to reimburse Texas for border security, with $12 billion included in President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill.
- Winning approval for 10 community projects through the House Appropriations Committee.
- Protecting local hospitals by securing $3 billion annually in Medicaid hospital funding.
- Stopping the radical left from using federal funds to pay for gender transition procedures on minors—projected to save tax payers $445 million over the next decade.
The contrast could not be clearer. Congressional District 2 does not need another politician who files bills for attention and fails to deliver results. It needs a proven lawmaker who knows how to navigate Congress, build coalitions, and secure real wins for CD-2 families. Dan Crenshaw has demonstrated that ability time and again. As voters head to the polls, the choice is not about rhetoric or ambition, but about effectiveness. CD-2 deserves leadership that produces results, not excuses.
Steve Toth Accused of Omitting Hundreds of Thousands in Assets from Required Ethics Disclosures
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DATE: January 14, 2025
[TX-2] – A bombshell report published today by The Texas Voice raises serious questions about congressional candidate Steve Toth’s transparency and financial disclosures, after the outlet reported that Toth may have omitted hundreds of thousands of dollars in assets from his legally required filings with the Texas Ethics Commission.
According to The Texas Voice, a review of Toth’s 2024 and 2025 Personal Financial Statements shows that he reported no ownership of real estate, listed only one source of income — his own business, My Pool Xpert — and failed to disclose any rental income or business-related assets and liabilities, despite public records indicating otherwise. The report concludes that neither filing reflects any real estate holdings in Toth’s name and that required sections related to assets, liabilities, and income sources were either left blank or marked “not applicable.”
These omissions, if accurate, would represent a significant departure from the transparency standards required of candidates seeking federal office and could constitute violations of state disclosure law. Texas voters rely on these disclosures to assess potential conflicts of interest, financial entanglements, and whether candidates are being forthright about their personal and business dealings.
This alleged ethics violation intensifies scrutiny of Toth’s financial disclosures and raises a serious question of fitness for office. CD-2 voters now need to consider that if Steve Toth is unwilling to be transparent about his own financial holdings, can he really be trusted as an elected official?

Steve Toth Teams Up with Democrats to Kill Property Tax Relief
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DATE: September 29, 2025
[TX-02] – Earlier this month, State Representative Steve Toth stunned Congressional District 2 voters by voting against a bill in the Texas Legislature that would have directly combatted rising property taxes.
The bill, SB 10, would have lowered the voter-approval threshold for property tax increases by cities and counties with more than 75,000 people. That means local governments would have had to seek voter approval sooner before raising property tax rates, putting stronger limits on how quickly property taxes can increase. Rep. Toth called this simple and effective measure “bull crap” on the floor of the Texas House and voted with nearly every Democrat to kill the proposed legislation.
It is not clear why Rep. Toth voted against the measure, nor is it clear why Rep. Toth seemingly does not want his constituents to have a voice in the property tax debate. His vote against SB 10, however, does illustrate a trend in his voting record of either not understanding the issue he is voting on or voting a certain way for the sake of gaining attention rather than delivering results for the community he is supposed to represent.
Regardless, the residents of Congressional District 2 are left wondering why Rep. Toth would vote against a major Republican Party of Texas priority, turning his back on the party platform and leaving his constituents at the mercy of continuously rising property taxes.
Steve Toth Opposes Border Security Funding while National Border Patrol Council Formally Endorses Congressman Crenshaw
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DATE: December 8, 2025
[TX-02] – In a stunning move that undermines his own rhetoric on supporting border security, during the most recent Regular Legislative Session Steve Toth voted against Texas’s General Appropriations Bill that included billions in state border-security funding for the 2026–27 biennium. The bill provided resources for the Texas Military Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and multiple agencies directly responsible for securing the border and supporting Operation Lone Star.
How someone can loudly proclaim themselves a defender of border security while voting against the very funding that makes that security possible is hypocrisy of the highest order. Toth’s vote effectively undermined the work of the Texas Military Department, DPS troopers, local sheriffs, and the thousands of personnel who rely on these resources to carry out Operation Lone Star.
This failure by Toth (who is also known for his infamous photo ops at the southern border) stands in stark contrast to Congressman Crenshaw’s more than a dozen trips to and across the border, where he has consistently met with subject-matter experts, assessed conditions firsthand, and worked to craft informed, effective solutions.
“Dan Crenshaw has been a great partner and that’s why he has the support and endorsement of the National Border Patrol Council,” said Paul Perez, President of the NBPC, the U.S.’ largest border patrol union. “He understands the issues and in his first month in office he went to the Rio Grande Valley to learn what front line agents needed to secure our border.
“In the years since, he has been down on the border multiple times and knows that manpower is our single biggest challenge. In response, he introduced legislation to waive the polygraphy requirement for military, veteran, and prior law enforcement applicants to help get us the agents we so desperately need.
“More recently, he has turned his focus to the root of the problem — Mexican drug cartels. Mexican drug cartels drive the crises at our border. They control illegal immigration, human trafficking, and drug smuggling along the border and are responsible for flooding our community with fentanyl. Dan Crenshaw will continue to fight for border security and that is why he has our full support and endorsement for reelection in 2026.”
Texans deserve leaders like Congressman Crenshaw who back up their words with action, not politicians who talk tough on border security only to walk away when it matters most.
Steve Toth Votes Against Protecting Law Enforcement, Stuns Congressional District 2 Voters
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DATE: October 21, 2025
[TX-02] – Congressional District 2 voters have recently come to realize Rep. Steve Toth voted against legislation designed to protect the lives of Texas law enforcement, setting off alarm bells all around the community.
The legislation, HB 2217 by Republican Rep. Trey Wharton, was filed during the latest legislative session and sought to establish “a grant program to equip local law enforcement vehicles with bullet-resistant windshields, side windows, and door panels” with the intention of enhancing officer safety.
HB 2217 enjoyed overwhelming Republican support and passed the House with only 6 nays. Toth was one of those nays. Regardless, HB 2217 later passed the Senate and was signed by Governor Abbott, becoming law.
“Rep. Steve Toth’s vote against protecting our law enforcement is a disgrace,” said Joe Gamaldi, National Vice-President of the Fraternal Order of Police. “HB 2217 is a major piece of legislation that greatly enhances the ability of police departments across Texas to protect their officers. Texas has led the nation in officers shot five years running and will likely again this year. Without bullet-resistant vehicles, law enforcement officers are put at immense risk and can easily be ambushed by criminals as we keep seeing time and again.”
Protecting our law enforcement isn’t optional, it’s a duty every legislature should uphold. Yet despite overwhelming support from Texas House Republicans to protect the men and women who wear the badge, Steve Toth voted against defending those on the front lines of our local communities. Once again, he’s shown just how incompetent he is as a legislator. Texas deserves leaders who will back the blue, not betray them when it matters most.
Steve Toth Voted Against Key Flood Control Bill — Now Wants to Represent Lake Houston in Congress
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DATE: July 15, 2025
State Representative Steve Toth is encountering backlash after voting three times over the last three legislative sessions against a non-taxing dredging district that will combat flooding on the San Jacinto River in TX-02, an area he now seeks to represent in Congress.
“I have known Dan Crenshaw since he first ran for office and have immense respect for him,” said Bob Rehak, the host of Reduce Flooding. “He has worked hard to protect the people of this district by securing funding for numerous flood-mitigation projects including dredging. Steve Toth, on the other hand, voted against creating a Lake Houston Dredging District THREE times, dating back to 2021. He even voted against it when it wouldn’t have raised taxes. That tells me he’s out of touch with the needs of people in this congressional district. I plan on voting for Crenshaw.”
Houston City Councilmember Fred Flickinger also expressed the vital nature of the legislation, stating: “House Bill 1532, authored by Representative Charles Cunningham, is arguably the most important piece of legislation for the Lake Houston area passed in the last several decades. This legislation creates a dredging district which allows us to address sediment in Lake Houston and the tributaries flowing into it proactively, rather than reactively after our area has flooded. This legislation was introduced in the previous two sessions but failed. Last year’s rain event was a perfect example of how dredging improves drainage. The San Jacinto River crested two feet lower than predicted due to the dredging which had been completed over the last several years. Congressman Crenshaw, Representative Huberty, Senator Creighton and Councilman Martin deserve special credit for securing the funding to complete these dredging efforts, some of which are ongoing today.”
As the Houston area continues to grapple with the continued threat of flooding, many voters are left wondering why Rep. Toth repeatedly stood in the way of a bi-partisan, tax-neutral solution designed to protect their homes and businesses.
Steve Toth’s False Attack on Crenshaw Dishonors Afghan Allies and U.S. Service Members
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DATE: January 8, 2026
[TX-02] — Saying that “Dan Crenshaw’s immigration plan called for more Muslim immigration” represents a new level of disingenuousness and dishonesty—even for Steve Toth.
In his first television ad of the election cycle, Toth has deliberately misrepresented Congressman Crenshaw’s record. The legislation he attacks had nothing to do with expanding immigration. It focused solely on protecting people who directly assisted U.S. forces and now face grave threats because of that service.
During the Biden administration’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, many of the Afghans abandoned by that failure spent years risking their lives to protect Americans. Congressman Crenshaw knows this reality personally. He lost his eye to an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan—an attack that also killed his local interpreter, who stepped on the bomb first. Dan survived. His interpreter did not.
After the Taliban seized control, our allies who survived were forced into hiding, hunted by terrorists, or murdered for their cooperation with the United States. Abandoning them was a moral failure—and pretending their protection is reckless immigration policy only compounds that disgrace.
The Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) program exists precisely to address this obligation. It requires extensive background checks, biometric screening, and documented proof of direct service to U.S. forces before any applicant can be admitted to the United States. The legislation Congressman Crenshaw supported upheld those standards, ensuring that those who helped Americans were both protected and properly vetted before resettlement.
To smear these allies as a political attack is deeply disrespectful—not only to the interpreters who fought and died alongside American forces, but also to every U.S. service member who depended on them in combat. Don’t believe it, ask someone who served and see what they say.
Turning their sacrifice into a false talking point dishonors the very people who stood with America against terrorism.
Texans deserve better than reckless falsehoods. They deserve leaders like Dan Crenshaw who tell the truth, honor our allies, and keep America’s promises.
Toth’s Record Reveals Pattern of Supporting Government Expansion Over Taxpayer Relief
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DATE: November 3, 2025
[TX-02] – As more information about Rep. Steve Toth’s voting history emerges, Congressional District 2 voters have recently been reminded of Toth’s support for incorporating The Woodlands, a measure that directly leads to bigger government and higher taxes in our local communities.
In a now infamous video from 2021, Toth tried to mislead his constituents on the topic of incorporation, stating that it would lead to a “locally controlled government” instead of a “government of big business,” when incorporation would have created more bureaucracy, higher taxes, and less accountability, all paid for by local homeowners. Toth’s idea of “local control” simply means higher taxes and more government, not more freedom.
“For someone who constantly calls himself a staunch conservative, it’s shocking to see Toth unapologetically advocate for bigger government and higher costs for families,” said Bruce Tough, former Chairman of The Woodlands Township. “He’s completely out of touch with his constituents. Instead of listening to homeowners worried about higher taxes and more bureaucracy, he tried to convince them that bigger government was somehow a good thing. That’s not leadership, it’s pure arrogance.”
This pattern of behavior, however, has continued into the present, when during a recent Special Legislative Session Toth voted against legislation (SB 10) that would have directly combatted rising local property taxes.
The people of The Woodlands and across Congressional District 2 have repeatedly rejected higher taxes and bloated bureaucracy, yet Steve Toth continues to ignore their will. Toth’s record on incorporation and property taxes reflects a troubling pattern of supporting government expansion over taxpayer relief, a record voters won’t soon forget.
Crenshaw Holds 28-Point Lead in Recent Poll, Defeats Steve Toth in His Own State House District
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DATE: November 12, 2025
[TX-02] – After bragging that he could win his campaign for Congressional District 2 “straight up against [Crenshaw] by 16 points,” reality has dashed Steve Toth’s hopes in the form of a new poll that not only shows him being crushed by Congressman Crenshaw by nearly 30 points in the primary but also losing his own State House District.
Toth has consistently claimed that his campaign is performing well in the polls. In his recent Tucker Carlson interview, he went as far as claiming that a large portion of Harris and Montgomery County GOP primary voters have an unfavorable view of Congressman Crenshaw. No source was provided by Toth, leading voters to believe that the numbers were simply fabricated. According to the new poll, which shows nearly 60% of GOP primary voters view Congressman Crenshaw favorably—completely debunking Toth’s claims—that may well be the case.
Some other findings from the poll, which can be viewed below, also show Congressman Crenshaw with a 30-point lead over Toth among self-identified Strong Republicans, and over a 25-point lead over Toth with voters who identify as religious conservatives.
Because of Congressman Crenshaw’s huge advantage, it’s no wonder Toth feels the need to lie, something he has repeatedly done in the past to gain any sort of traction in his campaign for Congress. With the facts, momentum, and voters all on his side, Congressman Crenshaw is poised to deliver a decisive victory in March.

Houston, We Have a Problem, and His Name is Steve Toth
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DATE: October 14, 2025
[TX-02] – Recently Congressional District 2 voters were alarmed by news that during the 89th Regular Legislative Session Rep. Steve Toth voted against a simple resolution urging Congress to move NASA’s headquarters to Houston.
The resolution, HCR 141 by Rep. Dennis Paul, “respectfully urge[d] the Congress of the United States to move NASA’s headquarters to Houston.” Because of its simple, common-sense nature, the resolution garnered wide bi-partisan support and was adopted by the House with 122 yeas to a mere 7 nays. The nays included Toth and five democrats.
Why Representative Toth would be against moving NASA to Houston is a mystery, as the benefits would be immense. It is widely believed that relocating NASA’s headquarters would not only cement Houston’s status as the nation’s hub for space exploration, but it would also bring thousands of high-paying jobs, attract billions in research funding, and expand opportunities for local universities and students pursuing careers in science and engineering.
The resolution itself spells out in simple terms why NASA should move to Houston, referencing its history as “Space City” and other facts that would make the move easy to facilitate and enhance the efficiency of NASA’s administration.
With all of this in mind, why would Steve Toth vote with democrats against a simple resolution designed to help Houston in so many ways, and why does he consistently pursue his own political ambitions before helping his constituents? These are confounding questions that shouldn’t have to be asked. Every possible answer to them, however, does mean one thing for certain: Steve Toth is not fit for elected office.
