Commander Kirk Lippold responds to Kevin Roberts’ attack on Dan Crenshaw’s military service

CDR Kirk S. Lippold, USN (Ret) provided the following statement about Kevin Roberts’ attack on Dan Crenshaw’s military service. Please read the statement below and feel free to share it with your friends, family, and neighbors in congressional district two.

The decision to serve our nation gives a person a unique perspective – you are part of a local community yet, you are also part of a team that understands the impact of worldwide events on our local community.  That experience brings a more informed vision of what it will take to keep our nation safe and build a better tomorrow.

In today’s all-volunteer military, the decision to serve is a conscious choice to not just watch the news on TV in the comfort of home; it’s a choice to make an impact, gain experience, and learn how the real-world event affect our lives here at home.  Dan’s experience serving our nation and risking his life for our safety is exactly the type of real-world experience Texas needs to ensure the safety and success of our nation.

The crew of USS Cole and I lived through the tragedy of a brutal terrorist attack.  That real-world experience forever shaped my view of the world.  I now use that experience to inform the American public about how to better defend and protect our nation.  Dan Crenshaw has also been through that same real-world experience.  He served and sacrificed on the front lines of freedom for our nation’s future.  He knows more than any of his opponents what it takes to defend our nation and keep us safe here in Texas.

Real world experience doesn’t come by playing it safe and staying near home.  It comes from service, sacrifice, and choosing to make a difference in the real world.  As a combat-wounded veteran, Dan Crenshaw’s experience fighting terrorists gives him the experience to know what it takes to keep our nation safe and build a future our children will be proud to inherit.

Like Dan Crenshaw, I have lived through the real-world experience of having terrorists try to kill you.  Those experiences shaped both of our lives.  Instead of playing it safe and earning a paycheck to afford a comfortable lifestyle, Dan Crenshaw is again choosing to serve Texas and our nation and deserves your support.

Dan Crenshaw’s decision to serve in the military, risk his life in combat, and then choose to serve again takes, grit, determination, and a willingness to build a better future for our district, the people of Texas, and our great nation.  Support Dan Crenshaw for Congress!

Kirk
