Crenshaw Responds To Rep. Casten’s Character Attacks

Crenshaw Responds To Rep. Casten’s Character Attacks

Congressman Dan Crenshaw released the following statement in response to Congressman Sean Casten (D-IL) smearing his character for protecting Americans’ right to participate in our election process:

“We’ve seen this desperate and immature strategy time after time from the Democrat Party. The strategy is simple: when you disagree with someone during a policy debate, resort to calling your opponent a racist.

“Rep. Casten, we’ve never met, we’ve never talked. I’ve never insulted you. But instead of articulating a policy position, you resort to petty name-calling, which is a good indication you can’t defend your argument with any sort of intellectual vigor. This is Congress – it’s our job to debate – but please leave you smear tactics at home next time.”

Crenshaw’s Houston Youth Summit Draws Nearly 2,000

Crenshaw’s Houston Youth Summit Draws Nearly 2,000

On Sunday, September 15th, Congressman Dan Crenshaw hosted his first annual Houston Youth Summit to engage Houston-area students in conversations about mental toughness, public service, civic duty and more. 1,900 high school and college students signed up to attend. The interactive event had five panels with questions from the audience throughout the program. Panelists included: former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell and Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer; “Dear America” host Graham Allen, his wife Ellisa Allen and the show’s producer Jake Stone; “Relatable” host Allie Stuckey; former Houston Astro Roger Clemens; and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley.

“It’s not every day that a group this large of driven, young adults gives up a Sunday afternoon to hear from military, government and political leaders,” said Congressman Dan Crenshaw.  “It’s clear there is a desire to have these conversations in our community and that is a great sign. My hope is that everyone who attended left with something they could apply to their life. I’m so grateful for our special guests and a big thank you to everyone who attended. This was an awesome experience and the best part is we’re just getting started.”

“I have great faith in the next generation of conservatives and all of us have a responsibility to ensure their success,” said Ambassador Nikki Haley. “These young people are ready to use the power of their voice. When they are educated with good facts, they will make the right decisions. Unfortunately, many of them face intimidating environments on their campuses. That’s why showing them our support, through events like the Houston Youth Summit, is one of the most important things we can do. I hope others will join us in empowering them.”

“In order to make sure that history doesn’t repeat past mistakes, the next generation must have an understanding of it and a commitment to make sure it doesn’t happen again,” said Marcus Luttrell. “History is most often told by people who didn’t live it… this panel was made up of those of us that lived it and it’s our obligation to talk to the people coming up.”

“We were amazed at the insightful questions from these young Americans,” said Graham Allen and Jake Stone. “It’s events like this that give us hope in the next generation of conservatives.”

“Too often conservatives consider youth a lost cause,” said Allie Stuckey. “This couldn’t be further from the truth! We have an unprecedented opportunity and responsibility to show young people the logic and compassion of conservatism in a way that makes sense. This is not only possible— it’s crucial to our future.”

“The future of the Republican Party came together in a big way this weekend and it happened right here in Harris County,” said Paul Simpson, Chairman of the Harris County Republican Party. “More than 1,900 students came out from across Southeast Texas and beyond to attend Congressman Crenshaw’s Houston Youth Summit, demonstrating that conservatism is a growing political force among Generation Z. Whether it’s through events like this, social media, video, or other creative channels, Dan knows how to effectively engage with young Americans, and we’re thrilled to have him as a leader in the Republican Party.”

Crenshaw, Delegation of 17 Seek Answers for Chief Petty Officer Edward “Eddie” Gallagher

Crenshaw, Delegation of 17 Seek Answers for Chief Petty Officer Edward “Eddie” Gallagher

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Dan Crenshaw (TX-02) was joined by a delegation of 17 U.S. Representatives from across the country in writing a letter to Secretary of the Navy Richard Spencer seeking review of Special Warfare Operator Chief Petty Officer Edward “Eddie” Gallagher’s conditions of confinement.  Gallagher was arrested on September 11, 2018. Since then he’s been held in pretrial confinement that limited his access to counsel, medical treatment for injuries and conditions related to service, and family visits, all rights that he has been denied despite presumption of innocence.

Fox News article covering this effort highlighted the concerns raised in the letter and underscored the growing support for Gallagher’s case. The Gallagher family expressed their gratitude for the congressional intervention, stating:

“[The Gallagher’s] are grateful Members of Congress are calling attention to what our family has been experiencing for 7 months: the abhorrent treatment of one of its most decorated warfighters. Let it sink in that it is taking Members of Congress to request that a combat veteran Navy SEAL—someone who has gone to war for us 8 times—be given the basics of medical care and legal counsel amidst absurd charges. Americans should be livid.”

Congressman Crenshaw and the other Members wrote to Secretary Spencer:

“In accordance with Rule for Court-martial 304(f), you, as Secretary of the Navy, are responsible for establishing regulations governing the facilities and treatment of service members in pretrial confinement. We therefore request that you review the underlying reasons for co-locating pretrial and post-trial confinees at Consolidated Brig Miramar and whether the current arrangement fundamentally disadvantages Chief Gallagher and other pre-trial service members. Furthermore, we request that you consider whether other locations are more appropriate for pretrial confinement.”

The following Representatives cosigned the letter: Mac Thornberry (TX-13),  Jim Jordan (OH-4), Kelly Armstrong (ND-AL), Jim Banks (IN-3), Paul Cook (CA-8), Louie Gohmert (TX-1), Paul Gosar (AZ-4), Jody Hice (GA-10), French Hill (AR-2), Brian Mast (FL-18), Ralph Norman (SC-5), Pete Olson (TX-22), Guy Reschenthaler (PA-14), Austin Scott (GA-8), Greg Steube (FL-17), Van Taylor (TX-3), and Michael Waltz (FL-6).

Food Drive to Benefit Furloughed Federal Workers and Their Families

Newly elected (R) Congressman Dan Crenshaw entered his position in congress just a few days before President Donald Trump decided to shutdown the government.

Crenshaw stated that he was going to refuse his salary until federal workers received their paychecks.

In an additional effort to help those particular citizens and their families during this time, Crenshaw paired up with The Humble Area Assistance Ministries along with Second Baptist Church and decided it would be beneficial to have a food drive.

Staff says they were fortunate enough to collect about $6,000 in gift cards before the event and are still taking donations.
